Still Sick!

Karley is still sick.
She has had a fever of 102 for a week solid and today I took her into the doctor to have her checked. They gave her an influenza test which did not make her happy. They had to insert a q-tip in her nose. She was pissed that she had to have it done in the first place. When the doctor came back into the room he said that the test was inconclusive and they could re-do it. I said no thanks......He did give her a rx for an antibiotic so we were off to hyvee to get it filled. On the way to hyvee she fell asleep and so I dropped her in the cart and began shopping while the rx was being filled. After 15 minutes I went to pick it up and the pharmacist said we were good to go.
I gave her a dose in the car because I knew she was going to fall asleep again.....she complained that it tasted nasty.
When we got home, todd was looking over the bottle and noticed that it said to mix with water. I FREAKED OUT thinking that I have poisoned her and now we need to go to the er to have her stomach pumped.....he called hyvee and spoke with the pharmacist who told him she had already mixed it up. Now, the bottle is no good and we have to take it back for another refill. He said that she was kind of nasty to him so he wanted to be the one to take it back in so he could talk to her. I am just grateful that i didn't OD my daughter....God! the things I get myself into!
The doctor did say that it could take another 4-5 days until she was feeling better. Poor baby!
Todd is working in the basement today (YIPPEE!) He is hanging the ceiling grid and hopes to have it done by the end of the weekend. The tiles for the ceiling are coming on Monday so I know he is on a mission to finish that. After the ceiling, all that is left is the trim, doors and floors. I will post some pictures when he finishes the ceiling.
Have a great weekend!

Tooth Fairy

This morning I was sitting on the couch checking my e-mail and I heard Karley making all kinds of noise in the bedroom. Then I heard her feet hit the ground and she was RUNNING out of the bedroom yelling: "MOMMY, MOMMY!! Check this out!"
The tooth fairy had come in the night and left her 5 bucks. (thanks to Knoblauch for telling me the going rate for a first tooth)
We had to immediately take a photo--messy hair and all.

IT'S GONE!!! YIPPEE

Today Miss Karley lost her first tooth. Okay, so that is not exactly true because I pulled it when I got home from work but it still counts. Her first tooth is gone and she couldn't be more excited. I thought my mom was going to pass out but after about 5 minutes of tugging and twisting it popped out. She said it didn't even hurt. Yes, I am that good.

So, after pulling it and applying the Kleenex for a few minutes to stop the bleeding we had to call everyone under the sun to tell them. She is a bit upset because Aunt Jamie doesn't know yet but I told her that it was probably better not to interrupt her at work.....we will be making that phone call tonight i am sure.

This tooth is smaller than a pea and I am extremely paranoid that I am going to lose it between now and tonight when the tooth fairy comes. We bought her this tooth fairy pillow a year or so ago and have been waiting patiently to use it. I just know she will sleep with a vice grip on it tonight. None of this under your pillow business....she will just hold the pillow, thanks.

So, here is a picture of the pillow and if you look very close you will see the tooth below it. ( i am not sure how to get the picture flipped the right way so just turn your head)

I know she is super excited because ALL of her friends in her class have lost 4-5 even 6 teeth. No matter how much I tell her it is better for you to loose them later because it means your big teeth are stronger she just doesn't get it. Or care for that matter. She wanted one of her teeth gone at any cost. She even said. "i know it may hurt for a minute mommy but just get it out!"

Doesn't she look so big???? Where does time go? Now I am off to find the baby book so I can record this very important milestone.

Making progress....

We are almost done with the bathroom in the basement. All that's left is the shelves for the built in cabinet, painting the ceiling and putting on the door. I am pretty sure I will have to get a picture or two for the wall as well.....

As you can see, I was brave and went with yellow. I have had a few mishaps with the color and painting in the past but decided to give it one more try and I am pretty happy with the outcome.

The next step is finishing the paint in the bedroom and getting the trim and woodwork up in there. Here is a photo of the blue I went with. I am hoping that the ceiling will be in soon so we can install the ceiling fan and carpet.

The main area is still a huge mess and we still have quite a bit left but hopefully it will go quick. We painted the walls tan and still have the ceiling and a little sheet rocking left to do. The trim and flooring will come later because we haven't decided what we want to do yet. I do know that I want to set up a scrapbook area in the back corner so I can get back to doing that. I have been checking out storage units to get everything organized so all I will have to do is go down there and get to work. Now, it is kind of a mess because i have to drag everything out (which takes a long time) and then decide what i have, etc. Todd wants to put in a bar and back bar at some point in time and we bought a fireplace this past week for downstairs too. SO, here is a photo of where the scrapbook area/ bar area will be. I am trying to decide if i want to put laminate, tile, carpet or just paint the concrete. So many decisions!

Here is the area that the "Living" room will be. The fireplace, TV and sectional will be here, someday! Again, I am not sure about the flooring in here. I think we will either do the laminate or carpet.

Now I am on a mission to get ready to have a garage sale. I have a storage room full of junk that I need to get rid of so I can get it all organized. I am thinking that when all of this is done Todd and I are going to have a big party to celebrate!

Enjoy your week!

Basketball game

Yesterday we went to the KU/KSU basketball game in Manhattan. It was a blast (despite the outcome) KSU played really well the first half and for a split second I thought that they might pull it off! No such luck. My daughter cheered nonstop for KSU until KU pulled ahead and then she changed her mind and began cheering for KU. I had to laugh at that just because it drove her daddy crazy.
Below is a photo of karley, papa and todd entering the game. We got there early so we could watch the team warm up.
This next photo might not mean a lot to anyone but I thought Todd was going to jump out of his seat when he saw this guy. It is Bill Walker who is a former KSU player and now plays for Boston in the NBA. I was going to see if he would take a picture with karley but I couldn't get down to the court so we just sat and stared at him......todd was excited.

Karley was cheering the whole game. It was so cute.

Here is a funny story. Our seats were pretty good and the crowd surrounding us was funny and everyone was friendly however, as my luck ALWAYS goes, the lady in front of me stood the ENTIRE first half.....didn't even sit for time-outs. I was so frustrated that I decided to take a picture of my view. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal but the entire crowd on this side was sitting for the majority of the game. The guy next to todd was getting even more pissed off at her than I was and kept yelling at her to sit down. She would respond: "I paid for these tickets so I can stand If i want to" I think she finally took the hint because during the second half she parked her butt in the chair. The weirdest thing was that one of the guys she was with looked identical to the husband of the girl I went to high school with (that just passed away a month ago). In fact, I almost asked him what his name was but decided not to because if it was him I wouldn't know what to say. Weird.

Anyways, her was my view. HA!

We did make some progress on the basement but my battery is dead in my camera so I will have to post about that later. The paint is on the walls and the bathroom is almost done. Todd is on his way to buy a door and some trim for the bathroom right now.....I am so excited!

Enjoy your Sunday!

Still no progress to report on the basement. They couldn't get the sprayer to work last night so we don't even have the walls primed. Bummer.
Karley had her valentines party at school today. It was a lot of fun. Here is a picture of her and Ryan. He has been a friend of hers since preschool.
Jordan, Emily, Karley and Vineeth are all lining up to go back to the classroom for some fun games. This is karley's classroom. I couldn't resist getting a photo of all of the kids in front of this bulletin board. It was just too cute to pass up. I will spare you the individual photos of all the kids. I am sending those to the printer to use on their memory books. What are memory books? It is a notebook full of all the fun things the kids have learned through the year along with milestone photos such as first day of fall, winter, Halloween, Christmas program, etc. There are self portraits of the kids on the first day of school as well as the end of the first adn second quarter, there are drawings, paintings, math sheets and letters. At the end of the year each child will take one home for their parents to enjoy. It is a lot of work but will be VERY rewarding to have. After playing a few games it was time to open the valentines. I was happy that karley could read all of them and she was excited about the ones that had candy or stickers. Overall, it was a successful party. I am not sure how you could screw up a kindergarten party though!

So, tonight we have Daisy's and Todd will be working late (again). We are meeting with a older group so they can pair up with us and become our "sister" group. Then, all of the girls are going to decorate valentine cookies. Sounds like loads of fun, huh???

I am hoping that the next time I post it will involve some sort of progress in the basement. Keep your fingers crossed. I am ready to get this over with.

Enjoy your night!

It was a wild, busy weekend with no progress on the basement....Soon though. I think we are going to prime tonight so then I can paint away.
Todd had to work ALL WEEKEND nonstop so we didn't see much of him. Karley had cheer on Saturday which involved the grand entrance ceremony. They called their names and the girls ran in one by one. It made them feel special and the coach even gave them all nick-names. Karley was "Cutie-pie Karley" Very appropriate!

So, there is a bit of BIG news in this house.....Karley has her FIRST loose tooth. This is literally an event we have been waiting on for sooooo long. She has sat (very patiently) watching all of her buddies loose 3-4 and even 5 teeth and has yet to have even a loose one. Today, Papa brought her some skittles after school and while she was eating them she said her tooth hurt. I started looking in her mouth and touched her front tooth. The dang thing moved. YIPPEE! So, since then, she has been sitting on the couch wiggling the heck out of it. She is persistent, just like her mommy! The kicker is when papa asked her how much the tooth fairy should leave her she said:
"Let's go with 100 bucks...."
How Clever! I can't wait to tell her daddy that!

Have a great week!
