Meet Mohawk Max!

We finally did it.....After YEARS of Karley begging, begging begging we got a dog. It has been something that Todd and I have been taking about for the past few months and when we saw this cute little guys face we knew he was the one! However, Max's life with us has been pretty dramatic. Here's the story.

We brought him home last Thursday and he slept ALL night that night. WEIRD! We were having trouble getting him to eat and were having to literally force feed him to keep his blood sugar up. As the days went on he was sleeping a lot more and coughing--it was so sad. Karely was bummed out because he wouldn't play or anything. We took him to the vet and they said it was Kennel cough, gave us some meds and sent us home. That night the cough got a lot worse and we took him to the Pet hospital.....they sent us home saying it was nothing serious. BUT the next day he was not better and we were so concerned that we called my parents vet, took him in and she did a chest x-ray. BAD NEWS! He was full of pneumonia! That doctor told us that she didn't think he would make it through the night and since Karley was in the room with me that freaked her out. I had the talk about puppies going to heaven and it was nothing we did but Max was just very, very sick.....it was so sad!

We decided to take him back to the vet who originally treated him and discuss what they think we should do..... They took him in, kept him a WEEK! and got him back to new! We picked him up Friday and he has been an amazing dog since. Plus, since we just got Max the bills were paid in full by the shop we got him at. WHEW!!!! Here is a photo of Mr. Max in the hospital. He had to have an IV and 24 hour care. They gave him antibiotics orally and through a shot daily.

We are so happy to have him home and playing like a normal puppy! Look for more photos soon!
